Read this part first, because it is the unusual one

Sitanza finds local businesses that appear to have no website, and builds each one a sample website before anyone has asked us to. If you have arrived here from a message about a website we prepared for your business, section 3 is about you — including the one-click way to have it deleted and to never hear from us again.

1. Information you give us

When you fill in a form on this website, we collect what you typed: your business name, your town, your trade, and whichever of your name, email address and phone number you chose to give us. If you tell us about your existing website, we keep the address.

We use it for one thing — replying to you and building the website you asked about. We do not sell it, we do not share it with advertisers, and filling in that form does not add you to a mailing list.

If you become a customer

We additionally hold what you send us for your website — your services, prices, opening hours, photographs and logo — and a record of what you have paid. Payment card details are handled by our payment provider and are never stored by us.

If you apply to be a partner

We hold your name, contact details, the city you asked for, and anything you wrote in the application, so we can assess it and talk to you about it.

2. Information we collect automatically

Our server keeps ordinary technical records: the address a request came from, the time, and which page was asked for. We use these to keep the service working and to spot abuse of our public forms. We do not use advertising trackers, we do not build profiles of visitors, and there is no third-party analytics on this website.

The IP address attached to a form submission is kept only to detect somebody flooding the form, and it is never shown in our own console or sent anywhere.

3. Businesses we have prepared a sample website for

If we prepared a concept website for your business without you asking, here is exactly what we did and what you can do about it.

Where the information came from

From public sources about your business: your public business listing (name, address, phone number, category, opening hours, rating and review count), and — only if your business has published a website of its own — the contact details on that website. We record the source and date of every fact we use, so we can tell you where anything came from.

What we do not do

Making it stop

Every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe and a one-click "delete this preview" link, and the sample page itself has a "not my business — remove it" button. Any of them will:

You do not need to give a reason, create an account, or reply to anybody. You can also simply write to us through our contact page and we will act on it.

4. How long we keep things

WhatHow long
An enquiry you sent us that did not become a customerUp to 24 months, then deleted
A sample website nobody claimedExpires automatically — the date is printed on the page itself
Customer records, websites and invoicesWhile you are a customer, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires
Suppression and do-not-contact recordsKept indefinitely, on purpose — deleting the record of your opt-out is how somebody gets contacted again by accident
Partner applications we did not proceed with12 months

5. Who else sees it

A small number of service providers process information on our behalf so this service can exist: our hosting provider, our email delivery provider, our payment provider, and the business-listing data providers we license. They act on our instructions and for no other purpose.

If you are dealing with a Sitanza partner — somebody covering your city — they can see the businesses and the leads in their own territory, and nothing outside it. They are bound by the same rules we are.

We do not sell personal information to anybody, in any circumstances.

6. Where it is held

Our systems and our providers may store and process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where that happens, the provider is bound by contract to protect it to the standard described here.

7. Your rights

Whatever country you are in, you can ask us to:

Write to us through our contact page and we will act within 30 days, and usually the same week. There is no charge.

If you are in Canada and you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you are in the UK or the EU, your own supervisory authority performs the same role.

8. Security

Access to our console requires a password and is restricted to authorised people. Every action that touches a business record is logged. Backups are held privately. Payment card numbers never reach our systems at all.

No system is perfect. If something goes wrong in a way that affects you, we will tell you rather than hope you do not notice.

9. Children

This is a service for businesses. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.

10. Changes

If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and update the date at the top.

A note about this document

This notice describes what our platform actually does today, written in plain language rather than boilerplate. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, and it will be before we operate at scale. If you are relying on it for something important, ask us and we will tell you exactly where we are.
